Classroom Management: TQS #7, 8
The key to achieving success is getting to know your students inside and out. Becoming aware of their needs, wants, and exceptionalities is crucial to an effective classroom environment. In my classroom (whether it be in the physical classroom or not) children have the sense of feeling safe, loved and ready to learn. I ensure children enter a positive atmosphere filled with light, enthusiasm, and curiosity. Tools such as visuals, schedules, phrases, and cues are utilized to enhance the students’ need for physical, social, cultural and psychological security. Routine is necessary to decrease disruptions and maintain critically thinking and learning. My online portfolio includes a variety of classroom management techniques I use daily with the whole class and with students who have exceptionalities. I continue to learn and grow as an educator with regards to effective classroom routines, as every child is different and unique.

Fidgets!
Forms of fidgets in the classroom are an excellent way to keep students on task and focused, if used properly. I used the poster below to explain the difference between fair and equal to ensure students understood why I used differentiation and accommodation tools such as fidgets.
