Assessment: TQS #11
Assessment is the key ingredient in the recipe of learning. Assessment as, of, and for learning gives the teacher a better understanding of which direction he/she needs to go in terms of instruction. Ensuring you are following student growth through assessment allows for communication, collaboration and community in regards to student progress and learning. Through my teaching instruction I have the children participate in large group activities, small group activities, and one-on-one activities. I constantly assess each child to ensure I was on the right track regarding instructional strategy and material. Allowing time for whole group, small group, and one on one increased my assessment knowledge and understanding by taking all aspects into consideration including conferencing with students, checklists, anecdotal notes, observations, and student work.
Forms of Assessment:
- Observations
- Anecdotal notes
- Checklists
- Group Discussion
- One on one discussions/conferences
- Student work
